Meg Ryan and Son Jack Quaid Mark Super Rare Joint Appearance at Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Gala

Meg Ryan and her son Jack Quaid made their first mother-son public appearance in over eight years while attending the opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles Sept. 19.

Meg Ryan and her son Jack Quaid are making waves in the City of Angels.

The mother-son duo stepped out for their first public outing together in years, making an ultra-rare joint appearance at the opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles Sept. 19.

Indeed, Ryan, 64, and Quaid, 34, were all smiles as they posed for photos together at the star-studded event.

For the occasion, the City of Angels actress—mom to Jack with ex Dennis Quaid—put a spin on a classic LBD, wearing a black jacquard midi dress with ruffled trim. Ryan opted for minimal accessories, pairing her look with black shades and a silver cuff bracelet.

As for her son? The Boys star sported a dark gray suit over a white shirt, along with a black printed tie. Ryan—who married his costar Claudia Doumit in April—also wore his wedding band on his left ring finger.

The mother-son pair attending the museum opening marked their first appearance together in nearly nine years. After all, Ryan and Quaid’s last outing was at a New York Knicks game in December 2017.

And while the You’ve Got Mail actress—also mom to daughter Daisy, 21—kept a relatively low profile before returning to Hollywood to direct and star in the 2023 rom-com What Happens Later with David Duchovny, she’s made her support for her son well-known.

In fact, Ryan publicly defended Quaid against the nepo baby label.

“Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be,” she told Glamour in 2023. “That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”

For his part, Quaid believes his mom was just being protective of him.

“My first thought was like, she’s being a mom,” he shared with the Daily Beast in 2024. “She’s being a loving mom.”
