Kristen Bell Teases Her Family’s Epic Halloween Plan — and It Involves a Massive Group Costume

“Halloween is a very important holiday to me,” Bell tells PEOPLE

Kristen Bell revealed her family’s Halloween 2026 plans — and they sound epic.

Bell, 46, spoke to PEOPLE exclusively while sharing her household “tiny upgrades” in partnership with Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days. 

During the conversation, the star, who shares daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11, with husband Dax Shepard, also dished on her family’s plans for the spooky season.

“Halloween is a very important holiday to me, and my family knows it, and they show me a lot of love,” the Nobody Wants This actress explains.

“We’ve done a big — not just family, but group family costume — with like 22 or so people for the last couple of years. So each year we pick a theme,” she continues. “One year it will be movies. One year we did all Harry Potter costumes. And this year, I’m not sure what it’ll be, but we’re toying with the idea of Greek mythological figures.”

“It makes the whole group that goes trick-or-treating feel like more of a family, I guess, as opposed to everyone individualized,” Bell adds.

She went on to share that her family also hosts an annual Halloween hayride around their Los Angeles neighborhood — driven by none other than Shepard, 51. 

“So there’s quite a bit of prep,” Bell says.

“In fact, it’ll begin in about two weeks … the truck will tow a trailer that we will fill with hay, and we will rig lights on it and make a playlist. And my husband will drive around our neighborhood, and you kind of just give a little thumb and he picks you up and you do a loop to get around to the houses,” she continues.

“We’re like the hub house of our neighborhood,” she adds.

For the 2025 spooky season, the Bell-Shepard crew went all-out with pun-inspired costumes.

“I’m going to go as … Carrie Bradshaw-shank Redemption,” Bell said while speaking with Jimmy Fallon during her appearance on The Tonight Show at the time.

“So pink tutu, spiral the hair, kind of a jailbird vibe and some boots,” she said of the crossover between Sex and the City and The Shawshank Redemption.

“Dax is going to go as Ferrari-anna Grande,” she added.

In 2024, the family enlisted the help of actress Anna Kendrick to recreate the cast of the 2004 hit comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Bell shared photos of the crew in costume on Instagram.
