Zendaya Puts a Spider-Man Twist on the Brooch Revival

The star’s latest archival find is caught in a stylish web.

No one commits to the plot like Zendaya. In the midst of her Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour, she has once again dipped into the archives for a look that doubles as a sartorial Easter egg.

For the film’s Shanghai premiere, the actress and her longtime stylist Law Roach unearthed a jaw-dropping gown from Atelier Versace’s spring/summer 2016 collection. Donatella Versace’s lineup explored sculptural cutouts, intricate latticework, and body-conscious draping, an ethos that translated perfectly to Zendaya’s latest red carpet moment.

The form-fitting gown featured sweeping cutaway panels connected by intricate web-like inlays, creating the unmistakable illusion of a spider’s web across the body. Between the geometric work, softly pleated chiffon cascaded down the silhouette, lending the dress a Grecian quality—almost as if Athena herself had wandered over from the Odyssey press tour.

The finishing touch was equally clever: a dazzling Chopard brooch, worn unconventionally on one side so that it resembled a spider crawling across the web.

The unexpected placement spotlighted the gown’s web-like construction while tapping into fashion’s ongoing brooch revival without staying stuck in the past.

Appearing alongside her husband and co-star Tom Holland, who channeled Peter Parker with a navy-and-red tie, Zendaya went the extra mile with her hair and makeup choices. She wore a long, pin-straight style with blunt bangs, winged black eyeliner, and naturally blushed cheeks.
