Richard Gere, 76, gets cozy with much-younger onscreen love interest, 28, while filming new movie

Richard Gere, 76, was spotted getting close with his much-younger co-star, 28-year-old Diana Silvers, while filming their new romantic drama, “Asymmetry.”

Photos snapped of the actors filming a scene in a New York City park Thursday showed them looking engrossed in a deep conversation.

Gere was posed with his arm perched behind Silvers while they sat cozily on a bench. The “Space Force” actress was dressed comfortably in a pair of black loafers and a lightweight, cream-colored dress featuring a leaf pattern.

The white-haired “Pretty Woman” actor was in character, wearing a casual button up and jeans.

The Thursday sighting are only the latest photos to come from the film’s set.

On Monday, the co-stars were photographed canoodling as their characters while recording another scene.

The pair were seen holding hands while walking through the NYC streets. At one point, Gere even wrapped his arm around Silvers’ waist, pulling her in close as she draped her arm across his shoulders.

The movie follows the fictional love story of Alice (Silvers), a young editorial assistant in New York, and world-renowned 70-year-old author Ezra Blazer (Gere).

The film is based on Lisa Halliday’s 2018 critically acclaimed novel of the same name.

The book is split into three parts — the first section, “Folly,” tells the story of Alice, who is described as “a young American editor,” and follows “her relationship with the famous and much older writer Ezra Blazer,” reads the book synopsis.

“A tender and exquisite account of an unexpected romance that takes place in New York during the early years of the Iraq War, Folly also suggests an aspiring novelist’s coming-of-age,” the description adds.

“Their one moment of eye contact sparks a connection that leads them both down a life-changing rabbit hole,” reads the film’s logline.

The second part of the book, titled “Madness,” is told from the perspective of Amar — an Iraqi-American man who is detained by immigration officers a holding room at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The film, however, appears to focus solely on Alice and Ezra’s fictional love story, as its logline notes that it “tells the story of a young editorial assistant in New York, Alice (Silvers), who comes upon world-renowned 70-year-old author Ezra (Gere) in Central Park one day.”

The synopsis continues: “Their one moment of eye contact sparks a connection that leads them both down a life-changing rabbit hole, where they create a private world just for two.”

Oscar winner Edward Zwick penned the screenplay along with Halliday and Marshall Herskovitz.

“Ezra, famous for his audacious work, finds someone with whom he can be openly vulnerable, and Alice finds the courage to explore her own aspirations as a writer,” it concludes. “Until it is all put at risk when their secret relationship is exposed.”

Oscar winner Edward Zwick worked on the screenplay with Halliday and Marshall Herskovitz on the screenplay, reports Deadline. Zwick is also attached to direct and produce.

“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with Ed and Marshall on transposing Alice and Ezra’s story for the screen. I am enormously grateful to them for their humor, ingenuity, courage, compassion and dedication,” Halliday, author and co-writer, said in a statement to the outlet.

Off-screen, Gere is also in an age-gap romance with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 43. (The couple is pictured here at the ‘ELLE x FUTURE’ gala in November 2025).
