The Morning Show is coming to an end.
On Thursday, July 23, Apple TV announced that season 5 of the hit series led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will premiere in 2027 — and it will serve as its last.
Alongside Aniston and Witherspoon, who return as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm all return for season 5.
There are also several new faces joining the newsroom for the final season. Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan have all been confirmed to star, and the streamer teased that more cast members will be announced.

In a press release, Aniston, 57, who is also an executive producer, said she knew season 5 would be the last when production began.
“Going in knowing it would be our last, we were so fortunate to craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honor these characters the way they deserve,” she said.
“From the beginning, Apple has supported our vision for The Morning Show, and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what’s happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor,” she continued.
“It’s been such a privilege to work with this insanely talented cast, and our extraordinary writers, producers and crew. We’ve become such a family, and we’re all so excited to share this final season.”
Witherspoon, 50, also an executive producer, called her nine years working on the show “the honor of a lifetime” in a statement.
“This was always more than a show about a newsroom — it was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost. Telling that story has been the creative privilege of my career,” she said.
“Thank you to Apple for their unwavering support, to our visionary writers, our incredible crew and our extraordinarily talented cast, who brought five seasons to life with a truth audiences believed every step of the way. It has been a stellar creative experience — one I will always treasure.”

Following the announcement, Witherspoon shared a montage of behind-the-scenes moments paired with a reflection of her time on the series on Instagram Reels. Over the video, which shows sweet moments of Witherspoon with Aniston, Duplass, Crudup, Rapp and other cast and crew, the Legally Blonde actress wrote:
“Eight years ago, we decided to tell a story about the people who bring us the news… A story about ambition, truth, power. Throughout five seasons, these characters challenged each other and challenged us. Because journalism isn’t just about reporting a story, it’s about finding the humanity.”
“But you’re only as good as the people you work with… and wow, how lucky am I to work with the BEST?!” she continued. “Thank you to every cast and crew member who brought this story to life. Now… who’s ready for one more intense & dramatic final season of The Morning Show?!”
In her caption, Witherspoon wrote, “8 years. 5 seasons. So many memories. I can’t wait for you to see the final season of @themorningshow !”
Aniston also shared some behind-the-scenes photos from The Morning Show set on Instagram, along with a video of Duplass lovingly wrapping his arms around her and Witherspoon, who is in tears.
In her caption, The Friends actress wrote, “Laughing and crying.
Final season of @themorningshow incoming… MUCH more to come. @appletv.”
In a statement, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt teased what’s to come in the final installment: “For five seasons, these messy, resilient journalists have chased their dreams. Now we’ll see where their endeavors lead them — what story will they ultimately choose for themselves.”
The Emmy-winning show’s cast is “really a family at this point,” Witherspoon told PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of season 4 last year.
“I love this cast, and I love the crew too,” she said. “And it’s a family that Jen and I put together, so that’s really meaningful.”
Season 5 of The Morning Show will premiere on Apple TV in 2027.
