Lenny Kravitz was not on board the Learjet 60 business jet that crashed in Florida this weekend, despite viral internet rumors that suggested he was.

Reports that the musician, 62, was involved in the fatal crash on Sunday, Nov. 1 are “untrue and incorrect,” a rep for the star confirms to PEOPLE.

Kravitz was rumored to be on board the flight after screenshots that were widely disseminated on social media featured a young female pilot posting that she was “honored” to be flying the star from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas the next day. It remains unclear whether the screenshots were legitimate, though the pilot later wrote on TikTok that she was not involved in the crash, which killed all nine people on board.

The doomed flight took off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Minutes before it went down, the jet reported an accumulation of ice and said it was jolting as much as 700 feet due to turbulence, according to air traffic control radio.

Video footage of the incident showed the plane hitting the ground in a fiery crash, leaving a large crater in the ground and causing a number of fires around the site.

The co-pilot was identified as 20-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras of Boca Raton, Fla., according to The New York Times. The other victims have not been identified.

Filgueiras earned her pilot’s license at 17, and had logged more than 1,300 hours of flight time prior to the crash, per the Times.

“She loved the freedom,” her mother Camila Corteleti told the outlet. “It was completely different seeing the world from the top.”

The jet crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven, Fla. around 12:50 p.m. local time. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that due to the debris and damage caused by the crash to the surrounding infrastructure, 600 residents were being assisted with temporary shelter and other essential needs.

The crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
