Ruby Rose aired details of Katy night to us back in 2011
An article Ruby Rose wrote for news.com.au back in 2011 has resurfaced, giving details about the night she now claims she was sexually assaulted.
A resurfaced article Ruby Rose wrote for news.com.au back in 2011 has offered up some telling details about the night she has alleged Katy Perry sexually assaulted her.
Earlier this week, Aussie actress Rose accused pop star Perry of sexually assaulting her at Melbourne nightclub Spice Market during a wild night out back in 2010. Perry has vehemently denied it all.
Rose, 40, made the allegation in response to a post about Perry, 41, poking fun at Justin Bieber’s headlining Coachella show, stating “Katy Perry sexual[ly] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a sh*t what she thinks,” she wrote on Threads.
The story made headlines worldwide, with Perry now being investigated by Melbourne police.
Ruby Rose actually told us about the night back in 2011
Now an article Rose penned for news.com.au has resurfaced, with slightly softer details shared compared to the serious allegations she is now claiming.
The Orange Is The New Black actress shares how she quit alcohol after a fateful evening with Perry, where she “threw up” on the Firework hit maker.
“I spectacularly lost dignity (and keys) one night not too long ago. Remember when Katy Perry and I crashed the year 12 formal? I don’t. I had been off the grog for 30 days – my first attempt at sobriety – and I was out partying with Katy,” Rose wrote.

“What I do remember thinking was: ‘I’ll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?’ Well, not stopping at one drink, or ten, and then vomiting on Katy’s foot was the answer.”
In one of the more telling lines in the article, Ruby wrote that what she did remember was that nothing too crazy – apart from vomiting on the pop star – happened.
“Before you jump to conclusions, nothing horrific happened, nor have I been hit with a DUI – but I just had enough, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life,” she added.
What is Ruby Rose claiming Katy Perry did?
While defending Bieber in her hitback on social media, Rose took the opportunity to make astounding claims about her night out with Perry.
“She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her,” she said, adding that she also had photographic proof from the evening and a handful of witnesses.
So why is she sharing this now? Rose claimed that she had chosen to joke about the incident initially, leaving out the worse details, because she “didn’t know how else to handle it”. What’s more, Perry was helping her obtain a US visa at the time and didn’t want to jeopardise that.
“I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,” she added to her post.

What now for Katy Perry?
While Melbourne police are now involved with an investigation into the allegations, Perry, who spent the weekend partying at Coachella with boyfriend Justin Trudeau, has vehemently denied the allegations.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,” a spokesperson said in a statement, according to The Sun.
“Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
More footage and stories emerge
Earlier this week, footage of the pair’s antics from that night resurfaced online, showing them singing and dancing with students after crashing a school formal at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt Hotel. Rose couldn’t be seen in the video.
Adding to this, a former club manager from Spice Market has also spoken about the wild night involving the two stars, claiming it was a “security nightmare” because of the crowd it attracted.
Details in between are hazy, with claims that both parties were heavily intoxicated.
“They were drunk, they weren’t paralytic or anything … just like any other person drinking at a nightclub,” he told the Herald Sun.
“They came in together, they were also with Katy’s hair and makeup girl, and another guy who was friends with Ruby.”
