Minka Kelly and Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds Split After 4 Years of Dating

The actress and the musician began dating in 2022 after meeting through a mutual friend

Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds have called it quits after four years together.

A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE the split “happened recently.”

Reps for Kelly, 46, and Reynolds, 39, did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

In August, the Friday Night Lights alum shared a silly “my morning routine” Instagram video in which Reynolds appeared to apply her skin-care regimen off camera. Prior to that, the pair last posted about their adventures together in July when the Ransom Canyon actress shared an Instagram carousel highlighting their family trip to Disneyland with the Imagine Dragons frontman and his children.

“No place I’d rather be 💗,” Kelly captioned the post at the time.

Kelly also shared an Instagram tribute for Reynolds’ birthday later that same month.

“Thank you for making ordinary days feel extraordinary, for making me laugh until I can’t breathe, and for loving so deeply and so freely. Celebrating you is one of my favorite things to do,” the Titans star wrote on the platform.

In July, Kelly also spoke to PEOPLE about how she tried to get Reynolds, who appeared as cattle buyer Billy Brinks in season 1 of Ransom Canyon, in the latest installment.

“We tried to find a way to bring Billy Brinks back,” she said at the time. “I was like, ‘Maybe the [love] triangle is with Billy Brinks.’ ”

The former couple’s last public appearance together was in May 2026, when they made their red-carpet debut at the 2026 Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Gala.

“Date night honoring the greats. Thank you for having us, @moca #mocagala2026,” Kelly posted on Instagram.

She and Reynolds, who initially met through a mutual friend and bonded over their creative work, were spotted together for the first time in fall 2022 while out for dinner in Los Angeles.

Over the years, the former couple stepped out for a handful of public appearances.

Kelly and Reynolds were seen sharing a kiss while attending a soccer match between Inter Miami and the Los Angeles Galaxy in February 2024. In October of that year, the duo attended a screening of Gladiator II at Paramount Pictures Studios,

Kelly shared a rare look into her relationship with Reynolds when she told PEOPLE that the “Thunder” artist helped her learn how to play piano for Ransom Canyon.

“I’ll usually ask my partner to show me how it goes,” she said at the time. “And then he’ll show me where my hands go. Then I’ll just do it over and over again until I’ve memorized it.”

Meanwhile, Reynolds spoke about how the pair carefully navigated Kelly’s relationship with his four kids — daughter Arrow, son Valentine and twin girls Gia and Coco — whom he shares with ex-wife and musician Aja Volkman.

The “Believer” hitmaker told PEOPLE in July 2024 that his kids “love” Kelly.

“We view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help,” Reynolds said of introducing Kelly into his family. “We’ve just been really careful with that and slow with navigating how to bring Minka into that conversation.”

Of Kelly, he added, “She’s done a really incredible job of being sensitive and careful on her end as well.”
