Millie Bobby Brown Says She’s Flown ‘Dear Friend’ Tom Cruise’s Helicopter: ‘He’s Trying to Get Me to Somehow Fly a Plane’
“Tom does the craziest stuff,” she said during a live taping of the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, adding that she finds it “thrilling” to do her own stunts

Millie Bobby Brown counts Tom Cruise, whose helicopter she once flew, among her “dear” friends in Hollywood.
In conversation with Josh Horowitz at the 92nd Street Y on Wednesday, June 24, Brown, 22, opened up about her transition into action films — and likened herself to the Top Gun actor.

Brown described herself as a “female Tom Cruise,” a comparison she first made when revealing she does her own stunts back in 2024, leading Horowitz to ask whether the two actually know each other in real life.
“He’s a dear friend,” the Stranger Things alum confirmed. “He’s a wonderful man and I’m very lucky to call him my friend.”
She continued, laughing, “Tom does the craziest stuff. I think he’s trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point,” before revealing that she’s actually “flown his helicopter before.”
Cruise, 63, famously became a licensed helicopter pilot thanks to the intense training he underwent in preparation for his 2018 movie Mission: Impossible — Fallout.
“I was like, ‘This is the last time I ever fly any of his equipment,’ ” Brown shared, adding that it’s a “thrilling experience” for her to do her own stunts in her movies.

“I really want young girls to think they can, you know? You’ll always hear an older actor say, ‘Don’t do your own stunts,’ and I get that. But back in the day, they might have been throwing you against a wall, and now, if you get a really great stunt coordinator and you learn how to land and you learn the whole technique of it, we as actors should know how to do certain things,” Brown said.
She joked, “I try to do 90% and the 10% is probably, you know, in my contract that I’m not allowed, even though I beg.”
The full conversation will be available in its entirety on Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast on Monday, June 29.
Two years ago, Brown appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss doing her own stunts on the fantasy-action film Damsel.
She explained, “You’re just like, ‘Am I really gonna do that stunt?’ And then that day they’re like, ‘Yep, put the harness on,’ and I just, like, did the stunt as if it wasn’t, you know, Tom Cruise–level stuff. I felt like Tom Cruise.”
Host Drew Barrymore described him as “the coolest,” to which Brown agreed, “So cool. In this film, I feel like the female version of Tom Cruise.”
“I did all my own stunts from start to finish. And I’m really scared about doing my own stunts. Stunts are scary. … You’re just like, ‘I’m not physically trained to do this,’ ” she said.
Brown is now promoting Enola Holmes 3, which sees the star reprise her role as the titular character, Sherlock’s sister, something she was eager to do.

“I’m really proud to be able to bring [Enola] to screen,” she told Horowitz, “Especially when young girls come up to me and say how much they love her.”
Enola Holmes 3 releases on Netflix on July 1.
