Margaret Qualley Makes First Appearance Since Jack Antonoff Split on Movie Set

Qualley and Antonoff’s separation after almost three years of marriage was announced on July 8

Margaret Qualley is back in movie star mode following her recent separation from Jack Antonoff.

The actress, 31, was seen in New Jersey on Wednesday, July 22, filming Possession, a remake of the 1981 horror classic.

Wearing an all-black outfit consisting of a long-sleeved top, knee-length skirt and leggings, Qualley was photographed in character, running and screaming on a street corner. In the new Paramount Pictures film from writer-director Parker Finn, the star of The Substance is playing the lead role originally made famous by Isabelle Adjani.

The set photos mark the first time Qualley has been publicly spotted since her surprise split from Antonoff, 42, after nearly three years of marriage. On July 8, a source told PEOPLE that the actress and the Grammy-winning Bleachers frontman are “figuring things out.”

The pair had first sparked romance rumors in August 2021, went public with their relationship in early 2022 and were engaged in May 2022. Their star-studded wedding was held in August 2023 in New Jersey.

Qualley is “the happiest when she’s working,” a source told PEOPLE on July 13. “Right now, she’s just looking ahead and focusing on what’s next. She’s spent years building her career and she’s excited to keep doing what she loves.”

Soon after the breakup, another insider said Qualley and Antonoff “love each other deeply and are very sweet to each other. They are going through this process with nothing but kindness and unity.”

The Possession remake, co-starring Callum Turner and Paul Dano, is one of multiple upcoming projects for the busy Qualley. She’ll star in the upcoming films The Dog Stars (in theaters Aug. 28), Love of Your Life (in select theaters Oct. 7 and on Prime Video Oct. 14) and King Snake.
