Joe Manganiello is showing off his intricate leg tattoo in a series of photos.
If you don’t know, the 49-year-old True Blood actor wrote a book called “Bloodlines,” detailing his seven-year-long health battle, where had excruciating pain in his abdomen, underwent surgeries and colonoscopies, and even had part of his intestines removed with an ostomy bag installed.

Joe took to Instagram to share the photos.
He captioned the series of photos, “In chapter four, I related my struggle with the illness to my body sending out knights to fight a (western) dragon that didn’t exist. The soldiers would then punch holes throughout my body when they couldn’t find an enemy.”
He then revealed why he wanted a massive tattoo: to cover up his surgery scars.
He shared, “The idea to cover my surgery scars with my first tattoo, a three foot dragon down my right side, was my effort to take back what little agency I felt that I had, and to signal to my body to stop attacking the dragon… because the (eastern) dragon was me…”
