Jessica Biel Recalls ‘Intense’ Moment in Her New Film That Made Son Silas, 11, ‘Very Concerned’

Biel currently stars in the new Apple TV action-adventure film ‘Matchbox: The Movie’

Jessica Biel said there was one specific part of her new action-adventure film Matchbox: The Movie that “concerned” her 11-year-old son, Silas.

Biel, 44, caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at the film’s world premiere in New York City on Monday, Oct. 5. During the conversation, the star revealed that it wasn’t a scene — but rather an outfit — that sparked Silas’ displeasure.

“My son, Silas, was very concerned about the green dress [I wore in the movie]. He was like, ‘What are you wearing, Mom? Yuck.’ ”

Biel was seemingly referring to the emerald green dress with plunging neckline she can be seen sporting in the film’s trailer.

Biel, who shares Silas, along with her younger son Phineas, 6, with husband Justin Timberlake, went on to say that the dress reveal also gave her some momentary mom anxiety.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is intense for them to be seeing this dress,’ ” she said.

Other than that, however, the Blade: Trinity actress said her kids seemed to enjoy the film, which dropped on Apple TV on Oct. 9.

“Their reviews are like, ‘Yeah, it was awesome. Obviously, it’s cool.” That’s how they talk about it,’ ” she said.

Biel also revealed that Silas makes a small cameo in the movie.

“He plays a small part in this in the movie at the very end, which is really cute,” she said while speaking to E! News at the premiere.

“He’s a DJ, so he’s kind of interested in both lanes,” she added while discussing whether she thinks Silas will pursue working in the entertainment industry some day. “We’re just kind of letting him take his time and see what happens and what he really gets interested in.”

She went on to recall what it was like for her kids to meet the film’s star, John Cena, when visiting her on set.

“They’re so funny. Like I feel like their brains implode whenever they come to set, especially a set like this, where there’s a hero of theirs that they’re meeting,” she said while speaking to the outlet. “There’s cool action sequences, there’s fight sequences. Like my little one, I think he was like, ‘Is this real? Is this not real?’ My 11-year-old is like, I know what this is. But the 6-year-old is still like, ‘What’s happening here?’ ”

While Biel and Timberlake, 45, are often private about their family life, the actress shared a special Father’s Day tribute to Timberlake in June on Instagram featuring some candids of the pop star with their kids.

“Happy Father’s Day to the dad who is always ALL in,” she wrote in the post. 

“The one who turns ordinary moments into adventures and bedtime into comedy hour. The dad who is not afraid of the tears, the tender, quiet times, or the hard conversations. Watching you be a father is one of my favorite things. Our boys are so lucky to call you Dad. WE ❤️ U!,” she added.
