In Rainy Paris, Margot Robbie Finds the Chicest Possible Solution

Margot Robbie is currently in Paris filming the new Ocean’s Eleven prequel; she’s been spotted out in the city streets with director and co-star Bradley Cooper and Monica Barbaro. Lucky for Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley is there with her to enjoy some stolen Parisian moments.
The thing about “French girl chic,” as agreed upon and defined by decades of it-girls, cinema, SEO listicles, and girls who got to break out of the West Village for a few weeks PTO to wander Montmartre, is a sense of the nonchalant. There is an effortlessness that can be quite difficult to achieve, especially when your brain is addled by the algorithm, or you’re usually more Santa Monica than Le Marais. Introduce some miserably rainy weather and that adds even more friction—those Paris boulevards are bonafide wind tunnels. An umbrella, for me—janky, usually with a broken leg and a garish pattern, a hasty Target purchase in situ—tends to look more calamitous than chic.
Not for Margot Robbie, though. The actor and producer was photographed leaving the movie set and heading to The Ritz with Ackerley yesterday, wearing a sleek, rainy day-ready outfit and accessories to boot.

Robbie donned a sheer beaded black camisole with a silky coordinating neckscarf and fitted gray pencil skirt. She styled the look with black calf-length leather cowboy boots and her favorite quilted black Chanel 25 shoulder bag. Aloft, a black and lime green-piped umbrella from celebrity favorite hotel Le Bristol. Her blonde grown out bob was styled straight and glossy in a side part, hitting just below shoulder length. (The “clavi-cut” style continues to reign supreme among celebs this summer, with Hailey Bieber and Ella Bright also styling their lobs as such.) Her nails were a deep red.
The Wuthering Heights star takes her off-duty/vacation wardrobe very seriously. On a recent date night in Paris with her husband and parents, she wore a sculpted black corset top and matching skirt with spindly black Jude sandals and an Alaïa Le Teckel bag—a look that felt very Samantha Jones late SATC. During the city’s sweltering summer heatwave, she opted for a breezy white Chanel shirt one day, a lemon yellow Doen cami and slip set the next, and most recently, a pair of trusty jorts. (Another celebrity summer staple.)

And those among us who consider vacation a key tenet of their personal brand know the kind of cool IYKYK hotel merch signals. Rather than a Nobu tote or Soho House robe, I’m talking about a Hector the donkey t-shirt from Biarritz bolthole Villa Magnan, or a Burberry plaid fan from Hotel Belles Rives. Robbie’s Le Bristol accessory might have come more from the need to keep her bob in check rather than as a considered styling detail, but if I were her, I’d be hiding it in my carry-on.
