Dolly Parton left behind an incredible music legacy, including at least one song still to come.

The late music icon passed away at the age of 80 this week, and fans are now recalling interviews she gave a few years prior where she revealed details about a still-unreleased song.

During a 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Dolly confirmed she has a “secret song” locked away in a time capsule at Dollywood that will be released close to her 100th birthday.

The song is meant to be released around her 100th birthday, which means we wouldn’t hear it until 2046.

Why Dolly Parton Regretted Locking the Song Away

“That’s the truth. I wrote a song and I put it in the box to be opened. I even put a CD player and said what we were doing with our music at the time, left all the instructions and here’s how you can play this. So I don’t know what they will do with it but I have regretted that because it was a really good song,” she explained.

She also told the story on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and admitted it “drives her crazy” that she couldn’t release the song.

“I wanna go dig that up so bad. I don’t know whose damn idea that was,” she joked. Watch her explain above.
