Dakota Johnson and MGK Are ‘Spending Time Together’ Months After They ‘Hit It Off’ at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedd

“It’s a very new start, but they’re smitten with each other right now,” a source close to the musician exclusively tells PEOPLE

Dakota Johnson and MGK have been quietly seeing each other for months after hitting it off at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

The musician formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, 36, and the Materialists actress, also 36, “have been hanging out and seeing each other under the radar for months now,” a source close to MGK exclusively tells PEOPLE.

The insider says the pair “had met before, but hit it off at” Swift and Kelce’s nuptials at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in July. 

Johnson and MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, “started off as friends and were texting often, but now they’re spending more time together,” the source adds. “It’s a very new start, but they’re smitten with each other right now.”

The same insider also says that the “Emo Girl” singer “is very into” Johnson, and has been telling his friends that the Madame Web star is “amazing.”

“They haven’t put a label on their relationship yet, they are just seeing where spending time together will take them,” the source says.

A second source adds that the stars have “been hanging out for a bit,” and says things between them are “super casual.”

Reps for Johnson and MGK have not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

News that MGK and Johnson are seeing each other comes after the pair sparked romance rumors when they were photographed out together in N.Y.C. on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Splitsville actress and “Bad Things” musician were spotted arriving at Swift’s apartment together before returning to a hotel.

Johnson was last romantically linked to musician Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury. In August, a source exclusively confirmed that the actress and “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” singer, 29, had ended their relationship “a while ago.”

News that the pair had gone their separate ways came less than a year after they were first linked during a dinner together in late 2025. Johnson previously dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in an on-and-off relationship from October 2017 until June 2025. The stars were also reportedly engaged for “years.”

MGK was last romantically linked to Megan Fox. The former couple, who had an on-again, off-again relationship for years, are now co-parents to their 1-year-old daughter, Saga Blade, PEOPLE confirmed earlier this year.

A source exclusively told PEOPLE in January that the musician and Jennifer’s Body star, 40, who were at one point engaged, “haven’t been together in a real way for a long time now and whatever they had romantically is done.” “Their relationship at this point is just about co-parenting,” the insider added of the exes at the time.

MGK recently wrapped The Lost Americana Tour, an international tour tied to his seventh studio album, and has been teasing a forthcoming album.

Johnson will soon hit the big screen once again in Verity, the Colleen Hoover adaptation alongside Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett. She is also currently in production on Three Incestuous Sisters.
