One thing is certain about Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie‘s upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel: The stars will hit the beach for the big screen.
Cooper, 51, and Robbie, 36, were seen filming scenes for their prequel to George Clooney and Brad Pitt‘s beloved heist franchise down by the ocean in Saint-Tropez, France, on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The actors appeared on set clad in period-appropriate beachwear for the movie, which is expected to take place in the 1960s, as The Hollywood Reporter noted in July. At that time, the outlet reported that Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Jack Holden, Lauren Ridloff, Omar Sy, Wagner Moura and Josh Gad also joined the movie’s cast. The untitled prequel is expected to follow Danny Ocean’s parents, played by Cooper and Robbie, at the 1963 Monaco Grand Prix, with Moura portraying a villain character, as the outlet reported.
Sources previously confirmed with PEOPLE in March that Cooper signed on to the project as a writer and director after filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Twisters) stepped down earlier this year. The new view of the set comes roughly one month after Cooper and Monica Barbaro, who also stars in the movie, were seen filming scenes in Paris.
Robbie has been attached to the project since 2022, when her publicist told PEOPLE that she and director Jay Roach were developing “an original Ocean’s film set in the ‘60s.” The Wuthering Heights star said at CinemaCon in April that audiences will see Danny Ocean’s parents “in their prime,” decades before Clooney’s signature character sets out to pull off the heist in Las Vegas seen in the original 2001 movie.

Filming for the Ocean’s prequel started roughly 10 months after Clooney, 65, said in October 2025 that he and much of the original Ocean‘s cast aim to shoot the sequel Ocean’s Fourteen by the end of 2026. “There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me,” Clooney told Variety of the project in December.
The new movie is Cooper’s fourth as a director: He made his directorial debut in 2018 with A Star Is Born and has since directed the Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro and last year’s Is This Thing On? Cooper also wrote and acted in each of those three movies.

Robbie has not appeared on the big screen since she led February’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights opposite Jacob Elordi. Cooper has not appeared on the big screen since Is This Thing On? hit theaters in December 2025, though he also made a cameo appearance in last year’s Superman movie.
The untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel is expected to steal its way into theaters June 25, 2027.
