Jodie Turner-Smith’s Rep Slams Lawsuit Claiming Star Aided Brother Accused of Drug Dealing and Sexual Abuse

Three women accuse the actress’s brother, Richard Mark Anthony Smith, of sexual misconduct and drug dealing, while alleging Turner-Smith provided him with housing, money and other resources

Jodie Turner-Smith is accused in a new lawsuit of financially supporting her brother and providing resources that allegedly enabled his drug dealing and sexual abuse of women.

The Queen & Slim actress is named alongside her brother, Richard Mark Anthony Smith, in a complaint brought by three Jane Does who accuse Smith of sexual misconduct and drug dealing and claim Turner-Smith knew about his alleged activities while continuing to provide him with housing, transportation and financial support.

“This is a fictional lawsuit filed by someone who has been harassing Jodie while hiding behind the name Jane Doe. The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system, allowing someone to make up facts and file meritless legal document,” a rep for the actress tells PEOPLE.

The complaint alleges that Turner-Smith, 40, played a separate role from her brother’s alleged sexual misconduct by “own[ing], leas[ing], controll[ing], financ[ing], or otherwise provid[ing] resources,” including residences and vehicles used by Smith.

Jane Doe 2 alleges Smith told her that Turner-Smith knew about his alleged drug operation, used cocaine with him and helped pay for narcotics. The complaint notes, however, that those claims are based on statements allegedly made by Smith and are “not as independent proof of Turner-Smith’s state of mind.”

The woman also claims Smith told her Turner-Smith paid his bills, supported his lifestyle and provided or gifted him an Audi that he allegedly used to transport packages containing narcotics across state lines.

The plaintiffs allege that if Turner-Smith knew about her brother’s alleged conduct and continued providing housing, transportation, financial assistance or other resources, that support helped enable Smith’s alleged behavior. Turner-Smith is named in claims including negligence and aiding and abetting/concert of action. She is not accused of personally participating in the alleged sexual misconduct.

The three women make separate allegations against Smith.

Jane Doe 1 alleges she went to a Los Angeles residence at Smith’s invitation in approximately June 2024 and encountered cocaine, firearms or other weapons and sexual activity. She claims Smith later isolated her in a bedroom, restricted her ability to leave and pressured her to use drugs.

She further alleges Smith and another man entered the bedroom and attempted to involve her in unwanted sexual activity before she ultimately left.

Jane Doe 2 alleges her relationship with Smith became increasingly “coercive, unhealthy, and controlling” and claims she witnessed drug use, drug sales, sexual parties and firearms. She alleges Smith pressured her to participate in narcotics sales or deliveries and, at times, confined or restrained her and pressured or forced her to engage in sexual activity with him and other men.

Jane Doe 3, meanwhile, alleges Smith offered her housing in exchange for sex or other benefits and that she stayed for several months at or in connection with a residence on Vine Street in Los Angeles.

She claims Smith coerced or forced sexual activity involving himself and a roommate and pressured her to sell and use drugs while she depended on him for housing. She eventually saved enough money to move out because she no longer felt safe, according to the complaint.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, injunctive relief, attorneys’ fees and other remedies. They have requested a jury trial.
