Michelle Pfeiffer Clarifies Acting Retirement Rumors, ‘It’s the Most Ridiculous Things’

Michelle Pfeiffer is not planning to retire from acting anytime soon despite what the rumors would have you believe!

The 68-year-old actress sat down with Jimmy Fallon on an episode of The Tonight Show that aired on Thursday night (August 20) and addressed the rumors head on.

“No, I mean, it’s the most ridiculous thing. They’re always saying that I’m retiring. Where does it say that I’m retiring?” she said. “No, no. All I said was that I really love working with an ensemble cast.”

Speculation started after Michelle said she might stop starring in movies during a Hollywood Reporter x Apple TV event. She was recently nominated for Supporting Actress in a Comedy at the upcoming Emmy Awards for her work in the Apple show Margo’s Got Money Problems.

During the event, the Scarface star said “I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much.”

While talking to Fallon, Michelle clarified that she does want to do more movies, but she was emphasizing how much she had been enjoying ensemble pieces lately with her projects Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Oh. What. Fun., and The Madison.

“I said something about ‘I never want to star in another movie,’ and they took that out of context,” she explained. “Of course I want to star in another movie, but I’ve done three ensemble pieces [recently]. I did Oh. What. Fun. and The Madison and then Margo.”
