Madonna Joining The Studio Season 2: See Her on Set
Madonna is expressing herself on the second season of The Studio.
The “Like a Prayer” singer appeared on the Venice set of the Apple TV series alongside stars Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn and Bryan Cranston on March 16.
Madonna—who’s last major live-action acting role was in 2002’s Swept Away—also teased the project on her Instagram story, sharing a picture of herself reading a script while seated inside a gondola on one of Italian city’s famous canals.
Clad in a wide-brimmed Louis Vuitton hat that she also donned on set, the 67-year-old wrote in the caption, “The Italian job.”
However, it appears that the Material Girl isn’t the only one making a cameo in the comedy. After all, Michael Keaton and Julia Garner—who, interestingly enough, has been cast to play Madonna in an upcoming biopic—were also seen filming on set.
But as much as the season two lineup is stacked with familiar faces, a void has undoubtedly been left by Catherine O’Hara, who died in January at age 71.

“I told O’Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen,” Seth, also the co-creator of The Studio, wrote in a Jan. 30 Instagram post in the wake of the actress’ death. “Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honour.”
He continued, “She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous… she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it.”
The sentiment was shared by Ike, who said in a tribute of his own to his late castmate, “I never in a million years thought I would get to work with Catherine O’Hara let alone become friends with her.”

“So profoundly sad she’s somewhere else now,” he added. “So incredibly grateful I got to spend the time I did with her.”
Meanwhile, Chase praised Catherine, who played ousted studio head Patty Leigh in The Studio, as a performer who “radiated goodness and light.”
