Olivia Wilde Debuts ‘The Invite’ Trailer With Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz & Edward Norton
Olivia Wilde is back behind the camera (and in front of it!) with her new movie, The Invite!
The 42-year-old Don’t Worry Darling actress and director stars in and directs the upcoming A24 film, which just dropped its official trailer on Tuesday (April 7).
The movie also stars Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
Here’s a synopsis: “Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?”
The film first premiered at Sundance to strong buzz, and the screenplay was written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones.
“A fiercely energized chamber dramedy, The Invite revitalizes the classic, largely bygone cinema of marital strife. Olivia Wilde’s scenes from a marriage are suitably raw and revealing, but also compassionate, deeply human, and incredibly funny. From a screenplay by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, the film gleefully plunges two couples (Wilde and Rogen; Cruz and Norton) into the crucible of a seemingly innocuous evening, delighting in its contortions as awkward small talk turns to the unearthing of long-tenured grievances, insecurities, codependencies, failed aspirations, and sexual FOMO,” a Sundance recap reads.
