Actress Kate Beckinsale has alleged that Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo ignored her outreach after she claimed an agent fired her for liking a social media post about a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a series of comments (which appear to have been deleted) under a promotional Instagram video in which Ruffalo, 58, speaks about the new film Palestine 36, Beckinsale, 52, wrote that “it must be so nice not to be fired by your Agent for liking a post about a ceasefire and not supporting the murdering of children.”

The Underworld actress continued, with her post appearing to reference the Screen Actors Guild strike that lasted from July to November 2023.

“I guess having a penis in Hollywood really counts for a lot because you’ve not been fired by the same Agent that I had and she sent me a gift the week before so we didn’t have any beef, but I liked a post about a ceasefire and I’ve got fired on the same day as Susan Sarandon was fired, two days after the end of the strike after nine months of none of us being able to work at all,” Beckinsale claimed, invoking the name of outspoken star Sarandon.

Beckinsale also brought up recent losses in her life, as she’s long been open about her struggle with grief following the death of her mother, actress Judy Loe, in July 2025, her stepfather, Roy Battersby, in 2024, and her beloved cat, Clive, who died in 2023.

“I was dealing with the fact that on top of my mother having been told she had six weeks to live with brain cancer, and being [a] carer for both of them, the day before my stepfather had had a catastrophic stroke on top of two types of cancer,” the star said of her emotional state at the time, “Which led to his death and I was preparing to fly to England to bring him back so that I could take full care of him and I was fired in two sentences after 12 years of friendship with my Agent and yours who is very close to her elderly parents and definitely knew what I was dealing with, alone.”

Beckinsale did not name the agent in her comment, but she did tell Ruffalo, “I DMdyou [sic] about this months ago but you ignored me” after her reported message.

In a separate comment, Beckinsale responded to a user by saying, “I’m okay with him ignoring me,” and cited issues with what she felt was “male privilege even in the good guys.”

Beckinsale went on to say, “It is such a given that of course I did not get a response and I really and truly support Mark Ruffalo and everything he is doing but no I@will [sic] not get a response not here and not ever,” before doubling down by writing, “I sent a message to Mark months ago and he ignored it. There is absolutely no reason why he would respond to it now.”

She later clarified that she’s “not even blaming Mark for this,” but she’s still “noticing it” in general.

In December 2025, Beckinsale addressed public scrutiny she received over her body, as she grappled with grief following the series of deaths she experienced in her personal life.

“It doesn’t make you feel very hungry, and I don’t know if there’s some sort of survivor’s guilt because it started after my stepdad died,” Beckinsale said in an Instagram video at the time. “And it’s not like anorexia where you’re starving and it’s a kind of willpower thing. It’s like your body has closed down. I think it’s shock and trauma.”

The actress added that she didn’t want to become a “cruel piece of s— that would say the stuff that a lot of you guys say to me” on the internet, in response to those criticizing her amid her period of pain. She continued, noting that she wouldn’t lash out with “nasty” comments about others.

“It just wouldn’t cross my mind and I am so grateful to have been brought up by people who raised me like that,” she said. “And I really miss them.”
