Mikey Madison will forever be known as an Academy Award winner.

That also probably means the actress will repeatedly be asked where she stores her statuette. “I keep it next to my vinyl collection,” the 27-year-old star of The Social Reckoning (in theaters now) tells PEOPLE.

“I like collecting things. I like old things. I love antique things,” says Madison. “And so I have a small collection of antique record players and consoles.”

For her performance in the titular role of 2024 Sean Baker indie Anora, Madison earned an Oscar for Best Actress at the 2025 ceremony. She triumphed in a tight race with fellow award season contenders Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres. At 25 years old, the Better Things alum became the first Gen-Z person to earn an acting Oscar and the ninth-youngest winner in the category.

Where she keeps the precious statuette also has a special connection to her father. Madison now lives in Los Angeles not far from where she grew up in California’s San Fernando Valley with two psychologist parents, whose names have not been made public, and four siblings.

“My dad used to have a record collection, and that’s something I feel like we bond over,” says Madison. “So for a while, I was really interested in collecting records and old movie soundtracks. And so I have a pretty good stash.”

As for her home life, Madison readily admits she is “a homebody” to PEOPLE. “I like being with my animals, I like cooking. People always ask what my hobbies are, and I’m like, ‘My hobbies are watching movies and hanging out with my pets and friends.’”

Following what she calls the “total whirlwind” of an awards run for Anora, which also included a BAFTA Award win, Madison took on the role of real-life Facebook employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen in writer-director Aaron Sorkin‘s The Social Reckoning.

The biopic, which recounts Haugen leaking thousands of documents about Mark Zuckerberg‘s social media platform to lawmakers and The Wall Street Journal, costars Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin and Billy Magnussen. It’s in theaters now.

Among Madison’s other upcoming screen projects are an Edgar Allan Poe adaptation with Léa Seydoux and a mermaid thriller with Kirsten Dunst.
