Prince William and Princess Kate steal the show as they reunite with Tom Cruise at star-studded Digger premiere – best photos

The Prince and Princess of Wales enjoyed a glamorous date night in Leicester Square for the premiere of Digger starring Tom Cruise

The Prince and Princess of Wales were red-carpet ready on Tuesday evening, stepping out together for the star-studded Digger premiere in London. The royal couple wowed the crowds arriving at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square with Prince William sporting a velvet suit jacket and Princess Kate living up to her title in a Princess-worthy outfit – a floor-skimming purple grown. 

The royals were reunited with their friend, Tom Cruise, who stars in the film. Tom was one of the first to arrive at the premiere, hours before the royals looking suave in a tuxedo with a pair of sunglasses on. The actor took his time to pose by giant graphics and props, ensuring everyone got a good picture. Speaking about the royals before they arrived, Tom told reporters: “I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them.”

A royal arrival

Princess Kate looked ethereal in a floor-skimming jewel-toned dress by designer Jenny Packham. Jenny is often her go-to designer for red-carpet glam. Meanwhile, William was dapper in a velvet jacket which Tom clocked right away, branding it a “great jacket”.

The royals were relaxed and chatted with Tom before they sat down to watch the film. 

Special jewels
Royal fans may have spotted Kate’s alluring necklace which is the Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, a rare piece from the royal vaults! Kate also wore Diana’s heirloom earrings.

This angle perfectly showcases the Princess’ billowing sleeves and her heavenly Rapunzel curls.

The royal was elegantly gliding around with her beautiful dress trailing behind.

A photograph snapped of the back of the Princess showcased her perfectly styled curls as well as the elegant train on her purple gown. The dress also features sheer balloon sleeves, adding a floaty feel to the overall look.

Meeting the cast

Tom watched on proudly as Prince William and Kate got chatting to other members of the star-studded cast. 

Tom and director Alejandro G. Iñárritu looked very pleased to have the royal couple in attendance as they posed together for a photo.

A rare royal PDA

In a sweet PDA moment, Prince William gently placed his hand on his wife’s back as they walked around the press area together. 

Kate gracefully picked up her flowing gown so she could climb the stairs inside the event.

Tom Cruise was among the first of the arrivals, looking cool in his shades.

He was captured signing the shirt of a fan on the red carpet at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square in between his poses for the world’s press.

Mesmerising beauty Salma Hayek stunned on the carpet in an all-black dress with glamorous caped detail. Her accessories of choice were golden but not as dazzling as her gorgeous glow. 

Hannah Waddingham

Hannah Waddingham showcased those arms that everyone is talking about in a sleeveless, figure-hugging black dress. The bombshell actress wore her blonde locks in a blow-dry style amping up the glam even more. 

Sandra Huller

Sandra Huller wore a golden full-length gown for the premiere. Sandra stars as Emma Rockwell in the film, which hits cinemas on 2 October. 

Emma D’Arcy

Emma D’Arcy opted for a unique evening look, wearing a pair of tailored trousers and an oversizedtrench coat. Emma plays a character called Lina in the upcoming film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

Riz Ahmed

Riz Ahmed posed in the suit of dreams at the premiere. His black ensemble featured flared trousers and he wore it with a plunging black top underneath. 

Earlier in the morning, Prince William served up popcorn at the ActOne community cinema in Acton, London. He even tried to access the membership system to help customers but failed. “It’s not my first till but it’s my first time on this system!, he said. Adding: “I’m going to let the professionals take over, I don’t want you to miss it.”

Ahead of the appearance, William was quizzed about his uncle, Earl Spencer’s book, Swan Song: Diana, my sister, but he chose to ignore the question from the crowd. 

As he walked up the steps of the ActOne community cinema in Acton, William was asked: “Sir, how do you feel about your uncle’s book?” Another person asked: “Have you read it?”

The Prince did not answer and entered the cinema, where he spent around an hour meeting young filmmakers and representatives from the Film and TV charity.
