All the Stars at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Opening

t was a starry evening over in Los Angeles last night, as the city’s newest museum opened its doors for a night of art, celebration, and red-carpet glam. Officially opening to the public on September 22, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art was founded by Star Wars and Indiana Jones creator George Lucas and Ariel Investments president Mellody Hobson, with a focus on visual storytelling. Featuring works by Frida Kahlo, Norman Rockwell, Charles White, and more, the space was curated to examine the power of an image—how it moves us and how it “shape[s] our collective memory.”

It makes sense, therefore, that the opening gala should bring together some of the top storytellers of our time. Filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, Greta Gerwig, Spike Lee, Guillermo del Toro, and Francis Ford Coppola joined actors Cynthia Erivo, Laura Dern, Michael B. Jordan, Emma Watson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Keke Palmer. Musicians, athletes, stylists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists were all plentiful, with Kris Jenner, Lindsey Vonn, and Pharrell Williams celebrating alongside Alicia Keys, Melinda French Gates, Jon Batiste, and Law Roach.

Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton both showed up, and while they opted for solo shots on the red carpet, they did pose for a photo or two inside the party. Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry also made the evening a date night, while Leonardo DiCaprio was seen chatting with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Doja Cat, Kerry Washington, and Perry’s ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, rounded out the guest list.
