Newlywed Emma Roberts Turns Flushing Meadows Into Her Personal Runway

Emma Roberts has been in the public eye since she was a kid crashing her aunt Julia Roberts movie sets, then grew into the kind of scream-queen-meets-book-club star who can make a slip dress look like a plot twist. On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the 35-year-old showed up for Day 1 of the US Open Tennis Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, looking like she had somewhere better to be and was only staying because the drinks were cold.

This was one of her first big public swings since marrying actor Cody John on July 25 at his family’s place in Sun Valley, Idaho. He stayed home. She did not. It is the kind of piece that looks accidental until you notice nothing about it is accidental. She finished it with a structured powder-blue Ferragamo bag, two-tone black-and-white pointed heels, and dark Oliver Peoples frames that made her look like she was grading the match instead of watching it. Hair in a loose low bun. Makeup barely there. The whole thing said newlywed on a night out without ever saying newlywed on a night out.

The US Open has always been half tennis, half fashion week with better snacks. Opening night also doubled as the USTA Foundation Gala, which explains why Tate McRae, Lindsey Vonn, Kate Walsh, and Brandy were circulating the same blue carpet. Roberts did not try to out-sport anyone. She just showed up in silk and let the stadium do the rest.
