Shawn Mendes is singing a new love song.

The Grammy-nominated artist is dating Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine. After months of romance rumors, Mendes confirmed their relationship on Instagram by sharing a birthday tribute to Marquezine.

“You are a light and a mãe in every room you walk into. Not to be tooooo sappy but you’ve truly changed my life, and I am so so grateful for you,” he wrote alongside footage of the couple visiting Casa Amarela Providencia in Rio de Janeiro.

Mendes and Marquezine are no strangers to high-profile romances. The singer had an on-again, off-again relationship with Camila Cabello from 2019 until 2023, while Marquezine previously dated Brazilian soccer star Neymar.

She’s from Brazil

Marquezine was born on Aug. 4, 1995, per Elle, and raised by her parents in Duque de Caxias, a suburb near Rio de Janeiro.

The actress has long been proud of her Brazilian roots. In a November 2023 interview with Condé Nast Traveler, she shared some of her favorite places to visit and foods to try while encouraging people to experience her home country for themselves.

“Rio is a beautiful city,” she said. “I’ve never heard of a person who didn’t feel welcomed in Brazil. We really offer our best.”

She’s an actress

Marquezine knew she wanted to be an actress from an early age. She began appearing in commercials at just 5 years old before landing roles in Brazilian soap operas at age 7.

“I know it’s kind of weird to think that a five-year-old would know that she wanted to act,” she told Elle in November 2023. “But that’s how I felt at the time. I loved that I had responsibilities and would often be treated as a professional, as an adult.”

Since then, Marquezine has built an impressive career with more than 30 television and film credits, becoming one of Brazil’s biggest stars. In 2023, she made her Hollywood debut in DC’s Blue Beetle, the first live-action superhero film with a predominantly Latino cast, which included Xolo Maridueña and

Prior to meeting Mendes, Marquezine was in an on-and-off relationship with Brazilian soccer star Neymar from 2013 until 2018, per E! Online.

After the public relationship, Marquezine decided to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, telling Flaunt Magazine in 2023, “I’ve learned to keep stuff to myself.”

Meanwhile, Mendes — who was previously linked to Sabrina Carpenter and Hailey Bieber — spoke about the difficulties of dating in the public eye during a September 2024 appearance on Jay Shetty‘s On Purpose podcast.

On Marquezine’s birthday in August 2026, Mendes officially confirmed their relationship with a heartfelt Instagram tribute.

The singer gushed that the Blue Beetle star had “truly changed” his life and said he was “so so grateful” for her.

He ended the post with a sweet message in Portuguese: “Eu te amo muito muito muitoo,” which translates to “I love you so, so, so much.”
