Kerry Washington Glitters in Oscar de la Renta Gold

The actress attended Monday’s opening night for “The Whoopi Monologues.”

Kerry Washington set the gold standard in Oscar de la Renta on Monday night for the opening night of “The Whoopi Monologues” at New York City’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

The “Scandal” alum, who was styled by duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, wore a gilded dress from the fashion house’s fall 2026 collection. Washington’s strapless dress featured a fitted silhouette with an A-line skirt and midi hemline.

The design of the gold dress created a spiral, fanned effect with slight ombré elements and fringe illusion work. Washington’s dress was further augmented with more gold elements, including her Jimmy Choo metallic gold pumps.

As for accessories, Zangardi and Haenn chose jewelry pieces by David Webb, including door knocker statement earrings and a cuff from the American jewelry house. Washington’s hair was styled by Nikki Nelms, with makeup provided by artist Keita Moore.

Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2026 collection, curated by former co-creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, was all about texture. Including the brand’s signature floral motifs, the fall 2026 curation featured an array of fabrics and materials from wool to delicate knits.

Flowers like tulips, poppies and hydrangeas were included throughout the collection in subtle and explicit measures. Looks consisted of pieces that were ideal for day and night, with Washington’s dress adding a a distinct touch of warm tones and a scalloped motif. The fall 2026 collection marked Kim and Garcia’s last as co-creative directors of both Oscar de la Renta and Monse.

Oscar de la Renta is among Washington’s go-to labels for red carpet occasions. The actress previously wore a gilded dress from the label’s pre-spring 2026 collection to the Gotham TV Awards in June 2026.

“The Whoopi Monologues,” directed by Whitney White, is a reimagining of Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg’s 1983-84 one-woman Broadway show, with five actresses — Washington, Dominique Fishback, Kara Young, Danielle Pinnock and Kecia Lewis — leading the performance.
