Simone Biles Reacts to Being Called Out for Going On Vacation After Medical Event

Simone Biles is hitting back at critics of her going on vacation after sharing she nearly died.

The 29-year-old gold medal winning Olympic gymnast shared earlier this month that she almost died from a medical emergency.

Over the past week, she started sharing photos from a vacation in Belize, and was met with criticism for going on a trip after her medical event.

“Almost died but look at these traveling selfies….” one user commented on a post.

Simone responded, “ugh these comments make me sad. a little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here.”

“I hope you understand that life changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward,” she continued. “have a nice day!”

Simone and her NFL husband Jonathan Owens took a trip to Belize and she shared several photos from their vacation, as well as a “5 minute beach makeup” look video.

Since her medical emergency earlier this month, Simone has yet to share more about what happened, after initially saying “I’ll explain sooner or later.”
