Pierce Brosnan’s ‘license to kill’ may have expired as former 007 needs reminder on how to fire a handgun while filming second season of gang drama MobLand
Technically, at least, he has a licence to kill.
But as these exclusive pictures show, former 007 Pierce Brosnan was looking a little out of practice as he grappled with a handgun last week.
The Irish actor, 72, needed help getting to grips with a Glock semi-automatic pistol on set of the second series of crime drama MobLand.
Though, to be fair, it has been 23 years since his last Bond film – and the weapon was hardly 007’s favoured Walther PPK.
Co-star Helen Mirren, 80, on the other hand, seemed quite at home with a powerful Uzi submachine gun.
The pair are reprising their roles as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, the husband and wife heads of an Irish crime family in a violent turf war in London with the rival Stevensons.

The series also stars Tom Hardy as their fixer, Harry Da Souza.
Produced by Guy Ritchie, the first series of the Paramount+ show was seen by 26 million viewers.
The second season is set to expand into a ‘darker, more ruthless’ storyline involving European gun and drug smuggling routes.
Some filming has already reportedly taken place in Spain, and most of the cast are returning including Paddy Considine, Downton’s Joanne Froggatt and Anson Boon.
Brosnan and Mirren have been friends since filming 2025’s cosy mystery The Thursday Murder Club for Netflix.
Mirren previously described working with Brosnan as a ‘lovely experience,’ noting they share a similar work ethic where they take the job seriously but ‘carry the load lightly’.
She highlighted their shared roots in street theatre as the source of an immediate ‘synchronicity’ that made their partnership on MobLand feel effortless. Brosnan echoed this sentiment, describing Mirren as ‘a great lady with true soul, a real person and just a joy to behold’.
