Daniel Radcliffe has a lot of magical memories from working on Harry Potter. At the premiere of Every Brilliant Thing in New York City on March 12, the Tony-award-winning actor, 36, reflected on filming the movie series.
When asked if he has a memory of working on the Harry Potter films he’d never forget, Radcliffe shares with PEOPLE that there’s “so much.”
“There was so much in those films. It was just crazy to get to do. Honestly, all of the stunt work that I got to do was like mind-blowing, and it’s still. There was one shot where I had to start underwater, and then I was on a wire, and they would pull me out of the water, and there was a burning ring of fire around me that it goes to the top and then up,” the Harry Potter actor shares.

The stunt takes place in the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
“It was in a part of the end of that sequence, and like bursting out of the water through a ring of fire is something that I have not forgotten,” Radcliffe shares.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came out in 2009 and, in addition to Radcliffe, starred Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Tom Felton and Dame Maggie Smith.
Radcliffe played the titular character in the eight-film series, portraying the boy who lived from 2001 until 2011. Alongside Grint and Watson, the three of them originated the leading trio’s roles, and Radcliffe explained to PEOPLE that seeing the new cast for the HBO series is “surreal.”

The series, which began production in July, sees a new trio of young actors, Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton playing Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they navigate magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Radcliffe tells PEOPLE that he has been in touch with Grint, 37, and Watson, 35, and they have all been reflecting on “how surreal [it is] to watch people starting off on that journey, all those years later.”
Radcliffe says he and his former costars haven’t had “a ton of communication about the show specifically,” but they’re all experiencing the same feelings.
“It’s one of those where I think we all just know how the others feel, because we’re also feeling it,” he shares. “You just see the pictures of these kids, and you just want to grab them and hug them. That’s the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have.”
Every Brilliant Thing will run on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre for 13 weeks.
