Doja Cat Reveals Borderline Personality Disorder Diagnosis as She Defends Chappell Roan

Doja Cat is opening up about her mental health struggles.

In a new TikTok, the 30-year-old “Paint the Town Red” singer revealed that she has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) as she addressed Chappell Roan‘s recent run-in with paparazzi in Paris.

Doja said that she will often “pretend to be happy” in order to keep appearances. However, she said that all this effort has caught up with her.

“I’m now struggling with BPD,” she revealed. “I don’t know how long I’ve been. I mean, probably forever. It’s an agonizing condition.”

BPD is a “mental health condition that affects the way people feel about themselves and others, making it hard to function in everyday life,” according to the Mayo Clinic. “It includes a pattern of unstable, intense relationships, as well as impulsiveness and an unhealthy way of seeing themselves. Impulsiveness involves having extreme emotions and acting or doing things without thinking about them first.”

While Doja said that she’s been in therapy “for years,” her BPD treatment would take eight years.

If you didn’t see, Chappell, 28, recently went viral as slammed paparazzi for disregarding her “boundaries” while in Paris for Fashion Week.

While Doja stressed that she was not extending her own diagnosis onto Chappell, she said that the “Pink Pony Club” singer’s boldness in the face paparazzi made her want to be more honest.

“I love that she can be uncomfortable, comfortably, in front of people, and protect herself and be honest,” Doja said of Chappell. “I had to learn how to be honest. I had to learn how to be honest with myself. I lied to myself for years, for most of my life…. I love that she can do that without hurting people. She hasn’t hurt one person by being herself.”
