Jennifer Lopez surprises Kerry Washington with emotional appearance at the Unforgettable Evening 2026 gala

Hollywood’s most glamorous stars stepped out in force for the Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s Unforgettable Evening 2026 gala,  but it was a surprise appearance from Jennifer Lopez that stole the evening. 

Kerry Washington was the Courage Award Recipient at the annual gala, which aims to raise funds for cancer research, but before she was welcomed to the stage, gala chair Jamie Alexander Tisch told attendes that there was a special guest from Kerry’s past – someone whom Kerry attended the Boys and Girls Club with in the Bronx as a young girl – in attendance to give Kerry her award.

Kerry gave Jennifer a huge hug, sharing her shock at the appearance.  “It’s a surprise!” exclaimed Jennifer.

Kerry’s mother, Valerie, is a breast cancer survivor after she was diagnosed in 2004. Prompt treatment saved her life, leading Kerry to become an advocate for cancer awareness.

Jennifer shared memories of their childhood, revealing that Kerry has always credited Jennifer for teaching her how to dance. “Kerry you remind us that together, through sciences,  support of survivors, and the relentless pursuit of answers that real change is possible,” concluded Jennifer.

The event, held at the iconic Beverly Wilshire hotel, saw a dazzling lineup of celebrities and models light up the pink carpet in support of the organization’s mission to fund vital breast cancer research.
